Prerequisites
 

Students who attend this advanced course must have experience in configuring Cisco® IOS® software and have met the following prerequisites:

  • Certification as a CCNA® or the equivalent knowledge (optional)
  • Basic knowledge of the Windows operating system
  • Familiarity with the networking and security terms and concepts.

These concepts are learned in prerequisite training or by reading industry publications.

Course Description:
 
This task-oriented course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to describe, configure, and manage the Cisco® IDS Host Sensor. The course focuses on a defense-in-depth IDS security solution.
 
Course Objectives:
 

After completing this course the student should be able to:

  • Install, configure, and deploy Cisco® IDS Host Sensor software in multiple network configurations.
  • Configure the Cisco® IDS Host Sensor to detect, respond to, and report intrusion or malicious activity.
  • Manage the Cisco® IDS Host Sensor Agents with the Console.
  • Create policies to functionally group Host Sensor Agents.
  • Create alarm exceptions to reduce alarms and possible false positives.
  • Configure the Console for event notification.
  • Perform maintenance operations such as software updates, database archival, and license updates.
