In this foundation course for Check Point's Security Management Systems, Security Gateway Systems, and deployment platforms, you will learn the basic concepts and skills necessary to configure Check Point Software Blades, including Firewall, IPSec VPN, IPS, Network Policy Management, Logging and Status, Monitoring, URL Filtering, Antivirus and Anti-Malware, and Anti-Spam and Email Security. During this course, you will configure a Security Policy, secure communications across the Internet, defend against network threats, and learn about managing and monitoring a secure network.

System administrators, security managers, or network engineers who manage R70 Security Gateway deployments on open servers, IP appliances, UTM-1 appliances, or Power-1 appliances or want to earn Check Point Certified Security Administrator R70 certification.

Prerequisites:

Basic networking knowledge, knowledge of Windows Server and/or UNIX, and experience with TCP/IP and the Internet

1. Design and install version R70 in a distributed environment
2. Perform a backup and restore the current installation
3. Identify critical files
4. Deploy gateways
5. Create and configure network, host, and gateway objects
6. Verify SIC establishment
7. Create a basic Rule Base
8. Configure NAT rules
9. Evaluate existing policies and optimize rules
10. Ensure seamless upgrades and minimal downtime
11. Use queries to monitor IPS and common network traffic and troubleshoot events
12. Generate reports, troubleshoot system and security issues, and ensure network functionality
13. Configure alerts and traffic counters, monitor suspicious activity, analyze tunnel activity and monitor remote user access
14. Apply upgrade packages
15. Attach product licenses
16. Perform a pre-installation compatibility assessment
17. Centrally manage users and manage users' access using external databases
18. Configure a pre-shared secret site-to-site VPN
19. Configure a certificate-based site-to-site VPN using an internal CA or a third-party CA
20. Configure permanent tunnels for remote access
21. Configure VPN tunnel sharing
22. Configure Check Point Messaging Security to test IP reputation, content-based anti-spam, and zero-hour virus detection
23. Configure a web-filtering and antivirus policy to filter and scan traffic
24. Implement default or customized profiles to designated gateways
25. Create and install IPS policies
