Certified or Registered Medical Transcriptionists (CMT or RMT)* follow prescribed and established document formats, and transcribe or convert recorded dictations by physicians and/or other healthcare professionals into a written text. These documents are the primary mechanism by which physicians, hospitals, and other medical professionals communicate patient record information with other physicians, insurance companies, etc. The CMT/RMT also edits dictated material for grammar, spelling, punctuation and clarity.
