i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1
Prerequisite: Comfortable using Windows®, basic understanding of analysis techniques
Description:
This basic hands-on 5-day workshop focuses on the fundamental concepts and features necessary to create and analyze
association and temporal charts. Through scenario-driven exercises, create charts manually and by importing externally
structured data. Learn to find, query and analyze data within charts using the basic functional tools in i2 Analyst's
Notebook. Additionally, switch between association and temporal layouts to gain a different perspective of your
data. Merging and combining charts, using attributes and setting up charts for presentation will also be covered.
You will be introduced to i2 Analyst's Notebook's social network analysis tools and the principles underlying them
as well as the Google Earth plug-in. In addition, you will learn to the basics of conditional formatting and basic
data mining in analysis charts. The week culminates with a project that incorporates all the elements learned during
the week.
i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 2
Prerequisite: i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1
Description:
This intermediate/advanced hands-on 4-day workshop builds upon the scenario, functions and concepts learned in
i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1. The main focus is on analysis and customization, less on manual charting. Learn
to customize and create icons, attributes, templates, palettes and chart properties that complement investigations.
Building on importing and analytical skills, learn to apply new techniques for manipulating charts created with
mass data. Emphasis is placed on learning the analysis tools and how they can be used to examine chart focus and
to find commonalities within and between charts. Learn more about attributes - when and why to use them - and how
analysis attributes can add analytical and presentation value to your chart. Delve deeper into social network analysis
with i2 Analyst Notebook and examine more advanced analytical tools like clusters. The week culminates with a project
that reviews lessons learned during the week and provides for additional chart presentation techniques.
i2 iBase Designer
Prerequisites: i2 Analyst's Notebook – Level 1 or Charting with i2 iBase Databases. Database
design experience helpful.
Description
This intermediate hands-on 5-day workshop focuses on the concepts and functionality required to develop i2
iBase databases for use with other i2 products. The basic theories of link analysis used in i2 Analyst's Notebook
are reviewed and the concepts behind and basic functions of iBase User are introduced during the first few days
of this course. The basic principles of Entity/Link/Properties (ELP) database design are used to focus discussions
and hands-on practice with the goal of designing and creating iBase databases that complement the needs of the
end users. Learn to import/export data, create/edit code lists and design reports while moving between designer
and user mode. Key system administration tasks, such as setting up passwords and users, are also covered.
i2 iBase
Prerequisite: i2 Analyst's Notebook - Level 1
Description:
This intermediate hands-on 5-day workshop focuses on the use of databases by those involved with investigations,
data entry and analysis. Using a variety of exercises, learn the basic functions such as opening, adding or modifying
databases while moving between i2 iBase and i2 Analyst's Notebook to visualize data and populate databases. Additionally,
learn the tools necessary for writing reports, querying the database, and importing and exporting data. As the
week progresses, more advanced analysis, queries and manipulation of the iBase database will be taught as well
as best practices and methodologies for using i2 products.
Charting with i2 iBase Databases
Prerequisites: Familiarity with using Windows®
Description:
This basic hands-on 5-day workshop focuses on creating association and temporal charts using i2 Analyst's Notebook
from data within i2 iBase. Emphasis is placed on learning the user side of iBase and how it works with Analyst's
Notebook as one complementary suite. A combination of lecture, hands-on work and exercises teaches the functionality
of iBase and the basic functions of i2 Analyst's Notebook necessary for working with both of these tools to maximize
analytical results and impact. This workshop does not teach how to import files into Analyst's Notebook. It does
teach basic importing into the iBase database.
i2 Analyst's Workstation/Data Miner
Prerequisites: Charting with i2 iBase Databases OR i2 Analyst's Notebook – Level 1 and i2 iBase, knowledge
of GIS and types of queries performed on your database is helpful.
Description:
This advanced hands-on 5-day workshop focuses on the 3rd component of i2 Analyst's Workstation – i2 Data Miner.
After briefly reviewing key components of i2 Analyst's Notebook and i2 iBase, attention shifts to learning the
functionality of Data Miner. Through a series of exercises, the various features and analytical tools available
in Data Miner are explored. You will learn to build cubes for analysis and perfect how to drill down into your
data to uncover trends underlying problems. Students will master moving data among i2 Data Miner, i2 iBase, i2
Analyst's Notebook and mapping programs to use the advantages of each tool to squeeze the most out of the information
in your database. The final project will include charts from Analyst's Notebook, reports from iBase, graphs from
Data Miner, and maps from a GIS component.
Telephone Analysis Using i2 Analyst's Notebook
Prerequisites: i2 Analyst's Notebook – Level 1, comfortable using Windows®, works with telephone or
toll data on a regular basis
Description:
This intermediate hands-on 3-day workshop focuses on the techniques of utilizing i2 Analyst's Notebook to conduct
telephone toll analysis. After a brief review of i2 Analyst's Notebook - specifically on the import process - attention
shifts to a real life based scenario. Learn to import volumes of call detail records from various phone carriers,
analyze those records and identify clusters and patterns in the data. Using both association and temporal charts,
discover how to use different layouts and more advanced tools to analyze telephonic data quickly and effectively. |
