To describe the ATM technology and provide the student with a foundation in ATM operations and applications
Learning Objectives
Describe the ATM network hierarchy. Illustrate the concept of virtual channels and virtual paths. Describe ATM switches and multiplexers. Describe how virtual-channel and virtual-path switching are achieved. Illustrate the application of ATM in LANs and WANs. Discuss ways to evolve towards ATM.
