Course Aim

To introduce the commands used to manipulate files

Learning Objectives

Organize files by creating directories and moving files to suitable locations within the filesystem (using the commands mv, cp, rm mkdir and rmdir). Investigate the contents of files using head, tail, and file and find. Understand the basic printing commands available. Use redirection. Protect files using chmod, umask, chown and chgrp. Use grep and be aware of how to use special characters in regular expressions.
