Learning Objectives
Outline the development and use of LANs. Explain the basic operation of LANs. List and briefly describe the transmission media available for LANs. Contrast star, bus, and ring topologies. Describe bus topology access methods. Summarize internetworking methods. Evaluate the use of routers in linking LANs. Describe the role of bridging in LANs.
