COBOL: Flow Control and Iteration

Course Aim

To introduce students to the use of flow control and iteration in structured programming

Learning Objectives

Explain the use of IF statements including ELSE, OR, AND, NOT, NEXT SENTENCE and CONTINUE. Explain how to code simple conditions including RELATION, SIGN, CLASS, GO TO, and EVALUATE. Explain modular programming using the PERFORM statement. Explain data handling using STRING and UNSTRING statements, reference modification, qualifying data names, REDEFINES, INSPECT, and DATE/TIME.
